October 29, 2026
The Point at Taylor Marina serves its last meals of 2026 this Sunday, November 1. From then until New Year's, nearly every dated event in Marshfield happens at the Marshfield Fairgrounds on Main Street. The indoor farmers' market, the drive-through light show and Marshfield Community Christmas all run out of 140 Main Street.
Ocean Street doesn't go fully dark. A short stretch around Dandelion Park and the Shops at Oceans Gate keeps the town's only holiday tree lighting on the calendar. A few kitchens along the water also post year-round hours. Taken together, those two spots shape the winter, and two Saturdays in December are when both are busy at once.
The Point's website puts it plainly: "Closing November 1st for the 2026 Season!" Dogs are no longer allowed on its pergola for the rest of the season, so anyone planning a final dinner with the dog this weekend will need another table.
Down Ocean Street, the year's biggest change has already settled in. The Patriot Ledger reported that Ocean House Coastal Grille at 1899 Ocean St. served its final day on Saturday, January 24, 2026. According to What Now Boston, the Select Board approved licenses on January 12 for Salty Days Fish Co., owned by Sean and Joanne McDaniel, to take over the space with a summer 2026 opening. The Salty Days locations page now lists 1899 Ocean St., with kitchen hours of 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Those are the posted hours, and the page doesn't say whether winter brings a different schedule.
A few places along and near the water say outright that they stay open through the winter:
That's a short list for a town with this much shoreline. Most of what fills the winter weekend calendar has to come from somewhere else, and in Marshfield that means the Fairgrounds.
Most people know the Fairgrounds for ten days in August. The Marshfield Agricultural and Horticultural Society has already posted next year's fair dates, August 20 to 29, 2027. Its winter schedule matters more right now.
The Marshfield Farmers' Market moves under the grandstand from October through May. It runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the third Saturday of each month in a space the society calls "Indoors/Lightly Heated." Each date lists about 20 local farmers, chefs and artisans selling produce, meats, dairy, seafood, honey, wool, eggs and prepared food, with three bakeries in the mix. The market adds free talks, live music and kids' activities, and it accepts SNAP and HIP. It runs rain, shine or snow. Texting MARSHFIELD to 855-217-0668 signs you up for reminders.
The same address carries the town's main holiday charity. Marshfield Community Christmas lists 140 Main Street as its home. Its online silent auction runs November 22 through December 5, and winners pick up their items at the Fairgrounds on December 6. The organization's Fairgrounds office takes holiday-assistance applications daily from 3 to 6 p.m., November 27 through December 23.
Then there's the biggest draw of the season. The South Shore Celebration of Lights, run by Fiesta Shows, turns the grounds into a drive-through light show from November 27 to December 30, 2026. Cars don't use the Main Street entrance. Per the Fiesta Shows event page, the way in is Gate E at 62 S. River St.
Before the lights go on, November gives you a few smaller dates spread across town:
The light show's opening is staggered. Its first five nights are Friday, Saturday and Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend, then Wednesday, December 2 and Thursday, December 3. Mondays and Tuesdays aren't on the schedule until December 14 and 15.
Every night has the same four hourly sessions, 5 to 6, 6 to 7, 7 to 8 and 8 to 9 p.m., with last admission at 8:15. The price depends on which night you go and whether you buy online ahead of time.
| Night type | Dates | Online, per car | On-site, per car |
|---|---|---|---|
| Weeknights | Mon Dec 14, 21, 28; Tue Dec 15, 22, 29; Wed Dec 2, 9, 16, 23, 30; Thu Dec 3, 10, 17 | $22.99 | $30 |
| Weekends and holidays | Fri Nov 27, Dec 4, 11, 18; Sat Nov 28, Dec 5, 12, 19, 26; Sun Nov 29, Dec 6, 13, 20, 27; Dec 24 and 25 | $26.99 | $35 |
| Flex Pass | Any available date and time | $30 | Not listed |
Buying online saves $7.01 a car on a weeknight and $8.01 on a weekend. The Flex Pass costs $3.01 more than a weekend ticket bought online, and in exchange you don't have to pick a night. That suits a household that wants to wait for a clear evening or for relatives to arrive. Limos, 12- and 15-passenger vans and small buses pay $40 online on weeknights and $50 on weekends, or $50 and $60 at the gate. The show is open Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, so out-of-town guests have something to do after dinner.
For most of December, the Fairgrounds runs on its own schedule and Ocean Street stays quiet. On two Saturdays, both have something going on.
Saturday, December 5 is the one night Ocean Street hosts a public holiday event. The Molly Fund holds its Annual Tree Lighting at Dandelion Park, 1896 Ocean St., across the road from the Salty Days address at 1899. Here's how the day lines up:
Saturday, December 19 puts three dated events on the calendar back to back:
The market ends at 1 p.m., the same hour the library walk starts.
The lights come down after December 30, but the grandstand market keeps going. The next date is Saturday, January 16, 2027, with the same 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. hours and about the same vendor lineup. The market runs on third Saturdays through May. It's the steadiest thing on Marshfield's winter calendar until the beach season comes back.
